Ionisation energy:

it is defined as the energy required to remove a valency electron from a atom.

usually nucleus attracts all the electrons we have two types of electrons

1. valency electrons

2. core electrons

core electrons are the electrons other than valency electrons.

Shielding effect :

opposition of valency electrons by core electrons against the attraction of nucleus.

Explanation:

as the large atom contains more electrons , core electrons are more so that the shielding effect is more

so the shielding effect is more attraction force of nucleus on valency electrons is less os we can easily remove the valency electrons hence ionisation energy is low
