The Legend of the North Land : Phoebe Cary

• The poem is set in the backdrop of the Northland which is an extremely cold place . It narrates the legend of how St. Peter had once cursed an old lady for being mean and stingy . The main lesson is that greed always gets punished .

Justification of the title

The title of the poem clearly state that the poem is about a legend of North Land . Like most of the stories , it seems to be passed on from generation to generation without a clue of it being true . The title is appropriate as it introduces the narrative form of the story which is to impart moral values. The place where it took place ( North Land ) is also clearly mentioned in it.

Hence the title is an apt. one!
