This poem is about poet's dilemma concerning what option to take up and which one to leave. Such situations are faced by one and all. When one is forced to decide just one option out of the two equally attractive choices. The poet also faced the same situation. While walking on a road, he came to the point where the road diverged into two roads. He stood long at the fork, not able to decide as to which of the two roads he should take. He was willing to travel on both the roads simultaneously; but practically it is not possible. So he decided to take the road which appeared to have been travelled less. However, he was regretful for the road he could not take. So the title is aptly justifiable.

This poem is about the Dilemma (confusion) that poet face while travelling, he see two roads diverging in the wood (here two roads symbolizes decisions that we have to make in our life). He says that we can choose only one road it means that during the journey of life we have to take certain decisions which decide our future and we have to choose one from many, our life is depended on the decisions we make. There are two roads in the poem (one is travelled by many and other is inviting and adventurous).
Finally, the poet chooses the road less travelled by. At last he regrets and says that his decision made all the difference in his life it symbolizes that our life is depended on our decisions we make during this journey (life).
