The title of the story "We are not afraid to die...if we can all be together." is perfectly justified. The story is about the survival of courageous family of the author who had taken his family on round the world voyage. Not only the elder members of the family, the six year old son , and the seven year old daughter behaved so courageously and bravely in the face of the storm. The six year old son Jon reassured his dad that he was not afraid to die if he could be together with his family. So these fearless words motivated the author to do his best to save the damaged boat. So Jon, his son's fearless words later on became the title of the story.

The title is quite apt for the story. The narrator set sail from Plymouth along with his family to replicate round the world voyage. They faced terrible weather during the voyage but they were all determined to get through the atrocities of weather. Even though the weather was continuously deteriorating, the narrator wanted that nobody should lose hope. In this context Jon said, "we aren't afraid of dying if we can all be together-you and mummy, Sue and I."
