Answer: The word 'Ghat' in Hindi means bank of a river. In the title, it symbolises the ultimate journey, it symbolises the edge of the life, where Shahid was struggling for life. On reaching mellow fruitfullness, he dreamt he was at the "Ghat" of the only world - the the world of the gone. Owing to his malignant tumour, he was about to leave this world and start a mysterious journey into the unknown world that exists after death. He was to bid adieu to the world of living. Having gone past pangs of life, he was cradling "in supreme consolation" , that is "I love to think that I'll meet my mother in the afterlife, if there is an afterlife". Since the "Ghat" refers to the brink of our world, which is the only world known to us, so the title is justified.
