In story 'The Last Leaf' the author tells about how she started losing hopes for her survival and stated unwilling to live by counting the felling leaves of the ivy tree and she considered that by the last leaf of the tree will fell she would also die the same day with it and that last leaf on the tree would be herself as she compared herself with the leaf and her health with the condition of the tree.
