This poem was written on the theme "the effects of winter on the people" The poem starts with the line "Rain and wind, and wind and rain. Will the summer come again?" The author seems deliberately looking for summer as the winter affects the life of every person. The poet is worrying about the constant rain, sleet and wind which are wetting everything. The city is longing for summer to come, the poet express it with words to make the reader imaging how winter looks like.

The poet had expressed in this poem about the poor condition of homeless children, robin birds, and dears suffering in the gale.
