Answer:

In ‘The Dear Departed’ Mrs Slater’s and Mrs. Jordan’s husbands are mere puppets at the hand of their wives.

They are men with no individuality as they seek permission from their wives for even minute things.

Henry Salter and Ben Jordan do not use their intelligence but seek approval of their wives Amelia and Elizabeth respectively.

I agree with the view that the husbands of Mrs.Slater and Mrs.Jordan , Henry and Ben are men with no individuality . They simply follow their wive's instructions . When Mrs.Slater asks Henry to wear her father's new slippers , he wears them without any hesitation . When she asks him to shift the old bureau from her father's room , he obeys her and does as she likes . He doesn't say a single word to her and does a single work against her will . And Ben too does the same . They are unable to stop the quarrel between their wives but fail . From this we can say that Ben and Henry are men with no individuality .
