justify why water is a liquid and wood is a solid.

Liquids are substance with a definite volume but not a definite shape. ... Therefore, water is a liquid and wood a solid.

Water is liquid because it has the ability to flow ,it takes the shape of the container, molecular space is more compared to solids, particles are loosely packed.

Wood is solid because it has its own shape ,can not be compressed, molecular space is vey very less , particles are tightly packed.
