Q 7. Comprehension Passage.
"A king and the birds"
One day, all the birds met together to choose a king. They chirps and song, but they could
not agree how to choose him, at last, the eagle said that the king of the birds must be the
one who could fly higher than all the rest. The other birds were afraid of the eagle because
he was strong and fierce, so they said that he was right. Then they all perched side by side
on the top of a long fence, and when the old white duck quacked they were to fly up and up
as high as they could. The one who should fly the highest was to be made the king.
Now among the birds was the clever little wren. When no one was looking, the
wren perched gently on the eagle's broad back. Quack ! Quack ! said the old white duck. Up
went the birds, and up went the little wren on the eagle's back. Soon the eagled had left all
the birds for below, but he went higher and higher, till at last he was tired out and began to
come down, They the little wren stretched his wings and fellow off from the eagle's back into
the clouds. The wren has Won! Cried the birds and even the eagle had to agree that this was
true. So the tiny wren was crowned king of the birds.
