K+ after donating an electron gains a positive charge which means it has one extra proton so it's atom clod reduces as the excess positive charge pulls the valence shells closer to it... since it's atom cloud is smaller hence lesser is its vloume...

The opposite goes with cl- since after gaining an electron its negetive energy increases its valence shell drifts away from the nucleus making the atom bigger hence having more volume...
