let's find no of lone and bond pairs by which we will define the geometrical shape of given compounds.

XeF₄ ⇒no of lone pairs = (7 × 4 + 8 - 8 × 4)/2 = 2

and no of bond pairs = 4

so, shape of XeF₄ is square planner .

hence, (a) ⇔(ii)

XeF₆ ⇒no of lone pairs = (7 × 6 + 8 - 6 × 8)/2 = 1

and no of bond pairs = 6

so, shape of XeF₆ is pentagonal bipyramidal.
