Let principal = Rs.P .

so,

→ Interest of first year = (P * R * T)/100 = (P * 8)/100 = Rs.(2P/25)

then,

→ Amount after 1 year = P + (2P/25) = Rs.(27P/25) .

now,

→ Interest for 2nd year = (27P/25) * (8/100) = (27P/25) * (2/25) = Rs.(54P/625)

→ (54P/625) - (2P/25) = 160

→ (54P - 50P)/625 = 160

→ 4P/625 = 160

→ 4P = 160 * 625

→ P = 40 * 625
