Apparatus:

To perform the experiment, we take a diode, having pn junction, battery having variable voltage source, an ammeter and a voltmeter.

Forward Characteristics

Positive side of battery is connected to P and negative side with N side of diode. Now we vary the applied volateg from o volts to 10 volts gradually. Note readings on ammeter and voltmeter. Now plot a graph with voltmeter readings on X-axis and corresponding Ammeter readings on Y axis to get the characteristic curve.

Reverse Characteristics

For reverse characteristics, repeat the same experiment with P side connected to negative source of battery and N to positive
