Solution:

We know,

Let's say in right-angled Δ ABC we have  

AC = 13 cm → longest side of the Δ ABC → Hypotenuse

BC = 5 cm → one of the side making the right angle → Base

AB → the other side of the triangle making the right angle → Perpendicular

By substituting the given values in the Pythagoras Theorem, we get

13^2 = AB^2 + 5^2  

\implies AB^2 = 13^2 - 5^2

\implies AB = \sqrt{169 - 25}  

\implies AB = \sqrt{144}  

\implies \bold{AB = 12\:cm}

 

Thus, the length of the other side making a right angle is → 12 cm.
