There are several tiers of government with particular authority and obligations determined by the Indian Constitution. Taking into the record the reforms made so far the Constitution grants for three layers of the government: Central, State and Local.

In series to carry out its liabilities, the administration at each level has been authorized powers to command taxes on people and companies based on standards such as revenue, expense, production, and certain financial activities.

The center accumulates the majority of the tax revenue as it holds scale markets in the acquisition of certain taxes.  States have the accountability of delivering public goods in their states due to their closeness to local issues and requirements.
