Kabir constructs a pendulum whose effective length is 1.5 m and whose time
period is 6 s.

Find :

a) The frequency of the pendulum b) The frequency of the pendulum if he doubles the weight of the bob

c) The time period of the pendulum if the effective length is made 4 times

the original length.

d) The time period of the pendulum if the original pendulum of effective

length 1.5 m is carried to planet where the force of gravity is 9 times

more than that of the earth.

Explanation:

Frequency = 1/time period = 1/6 hz

even if the mass of the Bob is doubled, there will be no change in frequency

time period = t = √2l/g that means t is directly proportional to √l

so if l' = 4l

t becomes doubled

t = 12 seconds

now t is inversly proportional to √g

if g becomes 9times

t will reduce to 3 times

that means

t will become 3 times small = 6/3 = 2 seconds
