Kannan asked me why I was going to madras?
Direct and Indirect speech
In English Grammar, there are two ways to quote someone.
- we use Direct speech When we repeat what someone said in the exact same words enclosing them in inverted commas.
- For example, Rahul said, "I am too sick to go to work."
- We use Indirect speech when we use our own words to repeat what someone said. Words can be different but the meaning should be the same.
- For example, Rahul said that he was too sick to go to work.
