$(x+50)(y-2)=2000$

⇒ $xy+50y-2x-100=2000$

⇒$2000+50y-2x-100=2000$  [ $xy=2000$ from (i) ]

⇒$2x-50y=-100$

⇒$x-25y=-50$ [ divided above equation from 2]

⇒$\frac{2000}{y} -25y=-50$  [ value of $x$ taken from (i) ]

⇒ $2000-25y^{2} =-50y$

⇒$25y^{2} -50y-2000=0$

⇒$y^{2} -2y-80=0$

⇒$y^{2} -10y+8y-80=0$ [Splitting the middle term]

⇒$y(y-10)+8(y-10)=0$

⇒$(y-10)(y+8)=0$

⇒ $y=-8$ or $y=10$

Since $y$ denotes the price of the clothe per metre, therefore it can't be negative.

Now, from equation (i)

$x y=2000$

⇒$x(10)=2000$

⇒$x=200$

Therefore the price of the cloth is 10 rupees per metre and length is 200 metre.
