Jyoti Prasad Agarwala is a famous modern Assamese writer. He wrote a novel form of the drama Karengor Ligiri, composed by Ms. Ratna Dutta. He also wrote a number of plays Sunit Kuwari, Karengar Ligiri, Rupalim, Labhita, Khanikar and Nimati kaina.

He was born in June 17, 1903 in the city Tezpur, India. He belonged to Agrawal family. He was married to  Devajani Bhuyan. He was a cultural icon. He was also known as Rupkonwar of Assamese culture. He was a play writer, songwriter, poet, writer and a film maker. He died in 17 January. The day is observed as Silpi divas also known as Artist's Day in his honor.
