Kari is flying a kite. She releases 50 feet of string. What is the approximate difference in the height of the kite when the string makes a 25o angle with the ground and when the string makes a 45o angle with the ground?

Sin x = Opposite/hypotenuse

Opposite = (hypotenuse) Sinx

From the diagram

h1 = 50Sin25 = 21.13 ft

h2 = 50Sin 45 = 35.36 ft

Difference in height = 35.36 - 21.13

                                = 14.23 ft

h1 = 50Sin25 = 21.13 ft

h2 = 50Sin 45 = 35.36 ft

Difference in height = 35.36 - 21.13

= 14.23 ft
