Given : Karin observed that the water level in the part of the river

she observed fell 1.68 millimeters per year for 1.5 years.

To Find : use the distributive property to calculate the exact variation in water level for the time period

Solution:

Watre level fall 1.68 millimeters per year

=> Variation per year = - 1.68 millimeters

  Time Period  = 1.5 Years

exact variation in water level for the time period  =  -1.68 x (1.5)

=  - 1.68 x (1  + 0.5)

=  - (1.68 x 1 )  - 1.68 ( 0.5)

=  - 1.68  -  0.84

=  -2.52 millimeters

exact variation in water level for the time period = -2.52 millimeters

2.52  millimeters  fall in water level for the time period
