The Karnataka government has launched the project elephant in the year 1992 in order to save the Asian elephants from extinction. It not only saves elephant but also has rules that improve the entire wildlife management system.
Some of the other campaigns used to save other animals are as follows:
- Project Tiger - 1973 by WWF to maintain the presence of viable tigers in India.
- Project Elephant - 1991, to conserve elephants.
- Gir Lion Project - To save lions.
