kartik is younger than som by 12 years . if 6 years ago, ratio of their ages was 3:5, find the ratio of their ages after 6 years from now.

and som be s
so k+12=s....,....1
age of Kartik 6 yrs ago=k-6
and age of som=s-6
by given condition
k-6/s-6=3/5
so from 1
k-6/k+12= 3/5
let X be the common divisor....
so k-6=3x ...........2
and k+12=5x ............3
by substract eqn 2 from 3
k+12=5x
-(k-6=3x)
we get
2x= 18
X= 9
now
k-6= 3*9
k-6=27
k=27+6
k=33
and now
age of som will be
33+12= 45
so present ages of Kartik and som are 33 and 45 respectively....
