Answer:

Given,

Distance from home to church = 2(3/8) km

Distance from church to school = 3(1/2) km

According to the question,

total \: distance =( 2 \times \frac{3}{8} ) + (3 \times \frac{1}{2} ) \\  =  \frac{3 \times 2}{8}  +  \frac{3 \times 1}{2}  \\  =  \frac{6}{8}  +  \frac{3}{2}

By equating the denominator we get,

 =  \frac{6 + 3(4)}{8}   \\  =  \frac{6 + 12}{8}  \\   = \frac{18}{8}  = 2.25

The total distance travelled from home to school = 2.25 km

I hope it is helpful.
