The cell cycle is divided into two phase, mitotic phase and interphase. The interphase is further divided into three phases, namely G1 phase, S (synthesis) phase and G2 phase. In G1 phase, there is the synthesis of RNA, enzymes, proteins, amino acids for histone formation, the formation of nucleotides and ATP. During S phase, the DNA is duplicated. During G2 phase, there is again intense synthesis of proteins and RNA. After completion of interphase, mitotic phase begins. Mitosis consist of karyokinesis that is the division of nucleus which is then followed by cytokinesis that is the division of cytoplasm to form two daughter cells.
