Let S= sisters age now, K= Kate’s age now

Kate is 5 years younger than her sister —-> K = S - 5 Kate’s age is her sisters age minus 5 years.

In 4 years, Kate will be five times older than she is now —-> K+4 = 5K in 4 years Kate’s age will be K+4, and that will equal 5 times her age.

We can solve the 2nd equation by subtracting K from both sides and then dividing by 4 to get: 4 = 4K —-> K=1, so Kate’s age is 1.

We can then plug in 1 for K on the 1st equation to get: 1 = S - 5 —-> 6 = S. So her sisters age is 6 right now, and that is the answer.

hope it helps
