Kate's classmates want to make a fruit punch to sell at the fun fair.
For every 3 litres of apple juice, they add 1 litre of pineapple juice.
They want to make 40 litres of fruit punch to sell. How many litres of
apple juice do they need?​

when we take 3L apple juice we add 1L Pineapple juice

so, total 4 litres

4L --------> 3L Apple and 1L Pineapple

so, for 40L-------> 30L apple juice and 10L Pineapple

so for 40L we need 30L of apple juice

2nd method (original solution)

Apple : Pineapple = 3 : 1

so total volume of juice will be 4L

so in 4L, 3/4 will be apple juice and 1/4 is Pineapple (Think about it......)

so it 40L,

Apple juice = (3/4) × 40 = 3 × 10 = 30L

So Apple juice required is 30L
