Here is how we can calculate the number of fish Jackie caught: 

Let the number of fish caught by Chelsea be=x

Fish caught by Katie=  3 times fish caught by Chelsea = 3x

Fish caught by Jackie = 3/2x

Total number of Fish=44

     3x+x+3/2x=44

     5 1/2x=44

      11/2x=44

to find x,divide both sides by 11/2

       x=44÷11/2

 Fish caught by Chelsea,x=44×2/11=8

Fish caught by Jackie is 3/2x

              3/2 × 8 = 12 fish

Therefore the number of fish caught by Jackie are 12.
