Find the cost of the meal

Solution:

Let the set meal price before discount = M

From given, we have,

20% discount ⇒ 0.8M

There is a service charge 0f 5% ⇒ 5/100 + 1 = 1.05

GST is at 18%  ⇒ 18/100 + 1 = 1.18

He pays a total rs 991.20

0.8M × 1.08 × 1.05 = 991.20

0.9912M = 991.20

M = 991.20/0.9912

∴ M = 1000

Therefore, the cost of the meal is Rs. 1000
