Define x:

Let the cost of the laptop be x

First month = 1/3 x

Second month = 1/3 x - 125

third month = 525

Solve x:

1/3 x + 1/3 x - 125 + 525 = x

2/3 x + 400 = x

1/3 x = 400

x = 400 x 3

x = $1200

Answer: The laptop cost $1200

Let the cost of the laptop be x

First month = 1/3 x

Second month = 1/3 x - 125

Third month = 525

A/q

=> 1/3x+1/3 x-125 + 525 = x
=> 2/3 x + 400 = x
=> 1/3 x = 400
=> x = 400 x 3
=> x = $1200

Hence,
The laptop cost is $1200
