Given : Kaya is planning a 4-day vacation at the beach.

The forecast has a 25% chance of rain for each of those 4 days.

To Find : the probability that it will rain just one of the four days

Solution:

The forecast has a 25% chance of rain for each of those 4 days.

=> p = 0.25   chances of rain

    q = 1 - p = 1 - 0.25 = 0.75  no chances of rain

n = 4

x = 1   it will rain on one day

p(x) = ⁿCₓpˣqⁿ⁻ˣ

=> p(1) = ⁴C₁(0.25)¹(0.75)³

= 4 * (1/4) (3/4)³

= 27/64

= 0.421875

the probability that it will rain just one of the four days  = 0.421875
