.Originally Answered: What are GB, MB, and KB?

These are the units of computer memory…

Starting with the basics, memory in computer is stored or processed with the basic unit of bits. Each bit can be implied as either an ON or OFF. We tell it either as 1 or 0, or Logical HIGH or Logical LOW.

Precisely 8 bits equals 1 byte.

And in computers, the higher units are taken by a factor of 2^10 which equals 1024.

So,

1 KB (kilobyte) = 1024 bytes

1 MB (megabyte) = 1024 KB = 1048576 bytes

1 GB (gigabyte) = 1024 MB = 1048576 KB = 1073 741824 bytes

And we still have larger units like TB (terabyte), PB (petabye), EB (exabyte) and so on.

Hope I have answered your question
