KCl solution is neutral to litmus. Explain.

Because it will neither disdociate into H+ ions or OH ions when dissolved in water and also it does not lone pair of electrons which will show acidic characters.

◆ KCl solution is neutral to litmus because -

- Potassium chloride (KCl) is salt of strong acid (HCl) & strong base (KOH).

- As salts of strong acid & strong base are neutral, potassium chloride is also neutral.

- Being a neutral compound, KCl doesn't change the colour of litmus paper/solution.
