Given :  Keenan wants to make a paperweight at a pottery class. He designs a pyramid-like model with a base area of 80 square centimetres and a height of 7.5 centimetres. The density of the clay he is using is 1.7 grams per cubic centimetre.

To find : weight of Keenan's paperweight

Solution:

Volume of  Square pyramid = ( Base area) * (height)/3

Base area = 80 cm²

height = 7.5 cm

Volume of  Paper weight = 80 * 7.5/3

=> Volume of  Square pyramid =  200 cm³

Density of the clay =  1.7 g /  cm³

Density = Mass / Volume

=> Mass = Volume * Density

=> Mass = 200 * 1.7

=> Mass = 340 g

weight of Keenan's paperweight = 340 g
