We know that coal and petroleum are fossil fuels.It required the dead organisms millions of years to get converted into these fuels.On the other hand the known reserves of these will last only a few hundred years.Hence they should be used judiciously to ensure their availability for a longer period of time.

Some alternative sources of energy are wind energy,solar energy and thermal energy.

Peteroleum is a dark coloured viscous foul smelling liquid also called as crude oil it's name is derived from latin word 'petra' (rock) and 'oleum' (oil) which is used for :----- lubricants transportation , heating and lightening , etc.
