The poem "Any woman" tells us about the self-effacing love of every mother. It depicts the worries and burdens that mothers bear in order to hold their homes. A mother is the life of a house. She fills a house with light and love and turns it into a home. The poem describes the endless chores performed by a mother. The poem ends with a prayer from a mother's heart to God to keep her alive to protect her children until they grow. There are images of pain and suffering in the poem which depict the hardships that a mother has to bear for her children.
