Harold's father, is a professional boxer, known in professional circles as 'Young Porky' for his strong body. He had a boxer's nose, and is proud of his left-uppercut which knocked out many boxers. He is more proud of his son, and keeping in mind the sensitive, academic nature of Harold, decides to keep his true profession a secret. He even decides to give up his last fight against Murphy. The reason is, he thinks that if he wins, the news and photographs will be all over the press, and Harold will get to know his secret. His ambition is to give up boxing and become an instructor in some leading schools and lead a decent life for the sake of his son, Harold.
