Keeping the potential difference constant the resistance of a circuit is doubled. By how much does the current change?

If the above change is implemented as stated, then from Ohm's law,
V = I*R
or, I1*R1 = I2*R2 (Keeping the voltage constant)
or, I1*R = I2*(2R) (Doubling the resistance)
or, I2 = 0.5*I1
i.e. the current through the circuit is halved.
