Given :   Ferris wheel  reaches the maximum height of 9m at 5s and then reaches the minimum height of 1m at 65s

To Find :  a. What is the period (the length of time to complete one cycle)?   b. What is the radius of the wheel?

Solution:

maximum height of 9m  at 5s

minimum height of 1 m at 65s

Times = 65 - 5 = 60 sec = 1 min

Maximum Height to Minimum Height = 1/2 Cycle

Time taken for 1/2 cycle = 1 min

Time Taken for complete cycle = 1 * 2  = 2 min =  120sec

the period (the length of time to complete one cycle) = 120 Sec or 2 min

Vertical distance = 9 - 1 = 8 m

Diameter  =  maximum height  - minimum height

Diameter = 8 m

Radius = 4 m
