Question :- Kevin wants to buy some pencils at a price of P4.50 each. He does not want to spend more than P55.00. What is the greatest number of pencils can Kevin buy ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, the greatest number of pencils can Kevin buy is x .

so,

→ Total number of pencil * price of each pencil < P55 .00

→ x * 4.50 < 55.00

→ x * (450/100) < (5500/100)

→ 450x < 5500

→ x < (5500/450)

→ x < 12.22

therefore,

  • x = 12 . (Ans.)

Hence, the greatest number of pencils can Kevin buy is 12.
