It is just not sufficient that our food contains
all the nutrients. Our body requires balanced
quantities of different nutrients proteins,
carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals — for
its proper growth and maintenance. Deficiency of
one or the other nutrient in the food leads to poor
health and makes it prone to diseases.
A diet containing all the nutrients in their
proper quantities is known as the balanced diet.
