Khajjiar Lake in Himachal Pradesh is on the brink of extinction due to the sheer neglect of the authorities. According to the news reports, the local people living near the lake recently filed a complaint at the Chief Minister’s office. However, no action on the complaint has been taken so far as the civic authorities are unable to find a solution to conserve this lake.
Khajjiar lake is located near Dalhousie in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh.
Reportedly, the pollution control board has made a report and sent it to the higher authorities highlighting the sad plight of the lake. Rahul Sharma, the executive engineer of the board for Chamba region told TOI that a communication has been done with the wildlife department about the lake’s issue.
News has it that the ministry of environment and forest has informed the authorities about the deteriorated condition of the lake about no action has was taken to look after the lake.
