Kharif crops and Rabi crops

These are two types of crops that are grown in India according to its weather. properties of these two crops are as follows:

Kharif crop:

These crops are sown at the end of summer season or  beginning of monsoon season and are harvested during September and October.Rice, Jowar Maize are some of the main crops that are grown during this season.  Some of the important areas where these crops are grown are Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Rabi crop:

These crops are sown at the beginning of winter and are harvested during the summer season, which is the month of April to June. Wheat, Peas and Barley are some of the main crops that are grown in this season and the main parts that produce these crops are Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

Types of crops

  • Crops of two board patterns:-

1. Kharif crops : The crops which are shown in the rainy season like June to November are called kharif crops. For example - Soyabean , ground nuts.

2. Rabi crops : The crops which grown in the winter season like October to March are called rabi crops. For example- tea , mustard.
