कवि ने सामाजिक विषमताओं को बेनकाब किया है। इस कविता में कवि ने गरीबों के जीवन पर प्रकाश डाला है। कवि कहता है कि यह किसकी और कैसी कारस्तानी है कि जो वर्ग समाज को सुंदर बनाने में लगा हुआ है और उसे खुशहाल बना रहा है, वही वर्ग अभाव में, गंदगी में जीवन बिता कर रहा है? लोगों के जीवन में सुगंध बिखेरने वाले हाथ बहुत ही भयानक स्थितियों में अपना जीवन बिताने पर मजबूर हैं! क्या विडंबना है कि खुशबू रचने वाले ये हाथ दूरदराज़ के सबसे गंदे और बदबूदार इलाकों में जीवन बिता रहे हैं। स्वस्थ समाज के निर्माण में योगदान करने वाले ये लोग इतने उपेक्षित हैं! कवि यहाँ प्रश्न कर रहा है कि आखिर कब तक ऐसा चलने वाला है?
