Answer :-

  • The ratio of Jay’s age to Kiaria’s age to Martha’s age is 2:3:6.

Step-by-step explanation :

To Find :-

  • The the ratio of Jay’s age to Kiaria’s age to Martha’s age.

Solution :-

Given that,

  • Kiaria is 7 years older than Jay.
  • Martha is twice as old as Kiaria.
  • The sum of their three ages is 77

Assumption: Let us assume their ages as :-

  • Jay's age = x
  • Kiaria's age = ( x + 7 )
  • Martha's age = 2 ( x + 7 )

Also given,

  • x + ( x + 7 ) + 2 ( x + 7 ) = 77,

=> x + ( x + 7 ) + 2 ( x + 7 ) = 77

=> x + x + 7 + 2 ( x + 7 ) = 77

=> x + x + 7 + 2x + 14 = 77

=> x + x + 2x + 21 = 77

=> 2x + 2x + 21 = 77

=> 4x + 21 = 77

=> 4x = 77 - 21

=> 4x = 56

=> x = 56/4

=> x = 14

The value of x is 14. Now, the ages are :-

  • Jay's age. [ We assumed Jay's age as x ]

=> x

=> 14 years

  • Kiaria's age. [ We assumed Kiaria's age as ( x + 7 ) ]

=> x + 7

=> 14 + 7

=> 21 years

  • Martha's age. [ We assumed Martha's age as 2 ( x + 7 ) ]

=> 2 ( x + 7 )

=> 2 ( 14 + 7 )

=> 2*21

=> 42 years,

According the question,

The ratio of Jay’s age to Kiaria’s age to Martha’s age is :-

=> Jay's age : Kiaria's age : Martha's age

=> 14 : 21 : 42

=> 2 : 3 : 6

Hence,

  • The ratio of Jay’s age to Kiaria’s age to Martha’s age is 2:3:6.
