The main aim of silent valley movement held in pal ghat of Kerala is protecting the ecological balance which was threatened by the proposition of construction of dam. Silent Valley is home to the largest population of lion-tailed macaques, an endangered species of primate. Public controversy over their habitat led to the establishment of Silent Valley National Park.
