Let the normal speed be x.

The reduced speed = x- 40 % of x

x-40x/100 = x-2x/5 = 3x/5

Let distance be d

ATQ

 \frac{d}{ \frac{3x}{5} }  -  \frac{d}{x}  = 1

 \frac{5d}{3x}  -  \frac{d}{x}  = 1

 \frac{5d - 3d}{3x}  = 1

2d = 3x

d =  \frac{3}{2} x

normal \: time \:  =  \frac{d}{s}

time =  \frac{ \frac{3}{2} x}{x}

 =  \frac{3x}{2}  \times  \frac{1}{x}  =  \frac{3}{2} km \:  = 1.5km
