{\bold{\huge{\red{\underline{\green{ANSWER}}}}}}

Let there be 1st number as x

and 2nd nuber be y

now according to question,

{\bold{\mathrm{\boxed{ x +y=9--(1)}}}}

and

{\bold{\mathrm{\boxed{ xy=162}--(2)}}}

now substitute the value of equation (2) in equation (1)

x  (9 - x) = 162 \\ 9x -  {x}^{2}  = 162 \\  -  {x}^{2}  - 9x - 162 =0

 -  {x}^{2}  - 18x + 9x - 162 = 0

 - x(  x  + 18)  -  9(x   + 18) \\ (  x   +  18)( - x   -   9)

So the values of x are:

x =  - 18 \: and \: x = -  9
