Hey Nik!

Solution :

• Force applied to the Piston A = 4 kg

• Area of cross section of Piston A = 8 cm²

• Area of cross section of Piston B = 320 cm²

i) Calculation of pressure acting on Piston A :

 \sf \bigstar \:   \: Pressure =  \dfrac{Thrust}{Area}

→ P = 4/8

P = 0.5 kgf/cm²

ii) Calculation of pressure on Piston B :

From Pascal's law

Pressure acting on Piston A = Pressure acting on the Piston B

P = 0.5 kgf/cm²

iii) Thrust on Piston B

 \sf \bigstar \:   \: Thrust = Pressure  \times  Area

→ Thrust = 4 × 320/8

→ Thrust = 4 × 40

Thrust = 160 kgf
